The Cleveland
Bible camp board of directors held their first meeting, in the Atkinson
Presbyterian Church basement. The board is composed of five members,
three of whom are selected from the Cleveland Church congregation, and
one each from the Stuart Community Church and the Atkinson Church
congregations.
Charles Mulford,
the president of the board, appointed Clarence Focken from Atkinson, for
vice-president, Stanley Cobb from Stuart-secretary and Sarah Allyn of
the Cleveland Church for public relations officer. Robert Deming
represents the Cleveland laymen's group on the board and is
automatically the treasurer for the Bible Camp, according to its
Constitution.
Rev. Payas, Henry
Warren,Sewell Johnson and Gene Hickok of the Atkinson church were also
present at the meeting, and of considerable help in organizing and
planning.
The board is
corresponding with possible leaders for the camp. As soon as definite
information is recieved from this correspondence it will enable the
board to complete the camp plans.

Cleveland
Bible Camp opened Tuesday, June 30, for high school students who have
just finished the 8th grade and above, and closed July 3rd. There were
25 students enrolled. The study theme was "Jesus' Way in the Bible"
which included the Jewish history and the teachings and Parables of
Jesus, with discussions on how to apply Jesus' teachings to daily
living.
The
Intermediate Camp, 5ht to 8th grades inclusive was held from July 7 and
ended July 12. Fifty-seven children attended. The week's program at the
camp included: Opening services on Tuesday night with a missionary
program on China the Rev. and Mrs. D. D. Su, in costume, in charge.
Wednesday evening there was a picture show. Thursday evening was
National Mission night highlighted by an address on Alaska by Mrs. Helen
Rainey. There was also a chalk talk by Mrs. Dale Henderson. Friday
eveing was also National Mission night with an address: "Work Among the
Indians in Mexico" by Mrs. F. F. Payas of Atkinson. Saturday night was a
campfire and Service of Consecration.
This year the
camp boasts of a new cement floor recently put in the kitchen through
the efforts of the Stuart and Cleveland churches. There were plenty of
recreational and educational facilties available to the children,
supervised by competent instructors. The camp was free of charge except
for a nominal fee of 50 cents for insurance.
On July 20,
Church services were held at 11:00 with Orin Graff of Forreston,
Illinois, in charge. Following the services a picnic dinner was enjoyed.
At two o'clock, closing exercises for the camp were held with the
children of the three churches participating, and an address by Rev.
Orin Graff followed.
